Studio and location sessions are two totally different photo shoots that requires careful thought and planning.  It is important to take into consideration your goals and what final product you are interested in.

Are you interested in a more casual lifestyle session capturing your pet in many different natural outdoor backdrops with varying texture and color? If so, an outdoor location session is best to achieve this goal. However, you will need to take into consideration the time of year. The time of year will definitely affect  the color and texture that we can use depending on a fall/winter/summer/spring landscape. Also, you will need to take into consideration the heat with summer sessions. While we shoot in late afternoon and not during the hottest part of the day, temperatures can still be pretty high in certain months here in the south.

Spring brings beautiful flowers and fall brings gorgeous colors as the seasons change. Winter can also provide beautiful backdrops with a more gray cooler toned background.

Location sessions allow your pup to run around and really show off his/her personality. We can also capture several different images with you and/or your family members included in the session. Location sessions are often the best option if you are interested in one of my books/albums.  A location session will provide a broad range of different images that will tell a beautiful story when your book or album is designed.

If your goal is a final portrait that has more of a "fine art" feel, then a studio session is the best option. I have a climate controlled studio with several different backdrops. We choose the best backdrop to meet your goal and which also provides the best color to make your dogs color pop. The images from a studio session are naturally going to be more posed. Studio portraits are a beautifully displayed on your wall and are a great addition to your decor.

If you have questions about whether to book a location session or a studio session, let's chat.
